International design publication BUILD, which is focused on the construction, engineering, architecture and design markets, has recognised a local company in its Architecture Awards 2024.
Drawing South Homes Pty Ltd, based in Maldon, has been named Best Boutique Architecture & Interior Design Practice 2024 – Victoria and recognised as Best Completed Residential Project 2024 (Victoria) for its work on a Mornington Peninsula home.
Sergio Uribe is the name behind the company Drawing South, which practises in architectural design, new homes, renovation and alteration.
“The award is for a particular project that I did as an Architectural Designer. It was technically an extension, but it involved gutting the house and was almost a whole new build,” he says.
Having obtained his Degree in Architecture from Colombia, Sergio has continued refining and specialising ever since, and has attained additional qualifications, such as diplomas in sustainability building and building surveying, since arriving in Australia. Despite his long list of credentials, Sergio is very humble when discussing the prestigious awards: “I feel happy. Maybe proud. I’ve had good recommendations and referrals, but this was unexpected.”
The UK-based magazine that awarded Drawing South is not expected to host a ceremony but will publish the details of the winners; a list is available on its website. Meanwhile, Sergio has been quietly informing his networks and colleagues. “I’ve received really nice feedback,” he says, which seems appropriate when local talent is honoured on a global scale.
