Work has commenced on a project to convert Crewe Municipal Buildings Annex into a Technology and Design Innovation Centre (TADIC), providing flexible workspace for businesses.
The annex, visible from Vernon Way, is being extended to house individuals and small start-up businesses.
The Technology and Digital Innovation Campus (TADIC) is part of the Future High Streets Fund programme to revitalise Crewe.

It is funded in full by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
Cheshire East gave the go-ahead for the scheme in March 2023, with planning granted this January.
The annex, which is the extension at the back of the main building, will be used as a technology and design innovation centre (TADIC), providing a flexible, co-working office space.
This scheme aims to create good quality employment in Crewe town centre, increasing footfall and expenditure for other retail and hospitality businesses.
The works will involve remodelling the existing service yard into an outdoor courtyard (Ryan Parker).
Works include the demolition and remodelling of internal walls, reconfiguration of toilet facilities and replacement of ceilings.
Externally, five windows and two doors will be removed to make way for a curtain wall and new frontage to the annex, via the courtyard.
The works will also involve remodelling the existing service yard into an outdoor courtyard.
Under the proposals, the existing courtyard, which currently has eight parking spaces, will be re-designed, reducing that number to four.

Crewe’s historic Municipal Buildings, fronting Earle Street, is not part of the proposal and will be retained for civic use, including the registrar function.
Council workers previously based at the building annex have been relocated to Delamere House.
